After the Opel Blitz was completed, I moved on to another lovely little Tamiya kit I had courtesy of the very nice folks at emodels.co.uk (from whom I get all my stuff): this 1/35-scale Kübelwagen Type 82, complete with jolly, happy driver. I was really starting to get my skills back now, so I cracked on. Again, this is brush painted, no spray painting. Full writeup and pics after the jump.
I love getting home to see new things to do have arrived. Kübelwagen build lets!
Not exactly a complex kit, this one
Baby steps on the Kübelwagen. Although small, I’m not fully enjoying the build.
This magnifying headset allows me to paint tiny parts, like figures and uniform details, with my old man eyes. And also SEE MOLECULES.
My Spaceman Magnifier Headset of Space and also Seeing™means I can now paint CRAZY TINY things much better. Witness my duckboards.
Cabin complete (sans wheel, to be added).
It’s little dude painting time!
Is it me or does teeny tiny German soldier dude here look like Dubya?
Little dude complete! Weathering was added to the figure – black washes for the body, red brown washes for the skin, German Grey with a little added white to highlight the boots and various Tamiya Weathering Master pastels all over the clothing to add wear and dirt. These writeups are quite old and copied from my Facebook page so I don’t go into a lot of detail (I’m just trying to get articles uploaded as quick as I can) but later writeups will go into STUPID detail about materials and techniques used, trust me.
Black wash drying on the wheels.
Complete! This is a Kübelwagen Type 82 Pkw.K1, WH-1381622, Leichter Division 999, Italy 1943. And I hated building this kit. I'm not sure why, it just gave no pleasure at all. Check out more completed pictures in the Gallery Page!
