I am building the Moebius Models 1/32 scale Mark II Viper, plastic kit with resin pilot. I have also purchased 3rd party brass-etched accurisation parts. I’m not a big fan of any kind of aircraft kits purely because I hate filling in the inevitable fuselage seams, but this kit is too cool to pass up.
*update - on building a resin kit at a later date I discovered that CA glue is actually cool - it's just this particular glue I was using was crap.
Apologies for the dark pictures by the way – this was my old iPhone, and pictures were usually taken at night or in the evening when the light in this room is not the best.
UPDATE: posting this article two years later I I feel differently: I have just finished watching BSG and noted with some amusement that the actual filming setpieces (the actual full-size Vipers they have on the live-action set) look as dirty as my kit, so now I am more than happy with the finish).
And that wraps up this build log. All in all, a very nice kit, simple to build and straightforward to paint and weather. The choice of resin for the pilot it is a little odd, and the fact it doesn't actually fit in the cockpit without amputation is annoying, but what the hey. Highly recommended!
Thanks very much for reading along. if you would like to purchase a Colonial Viper for your own display case, simply pop over to the Works For Sale page - if there isn't one available right now, then use the Commission Page contact form to ask me to make one for you.
Stay tuned for more builds1
